Mary Frankland wins the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award at this year’s North East Charity Awards.
The North East Charity Wards recognise the hard work and innovative thinking by our local charities and individual fundraisers and celebrate the local businesses and employees who help to support the work of our charities.
This year Mary Frankland won the coveted Volunteer of the Year award for her 38 years of dedicated volunteering helping her local community. Mary has been a volunteer at the Mixed Ability Club (MAC) which she founded. The club provides activities, outings and support to people with learning disabilities. Mary has also volunteered at Lorne House Residential care home for the past 17 years and, as a director, has been instrumentalin negotiating positive change.
Mary has devoted most of her retirement to support the people of Teesside and this awards is very much desevered.
