Tees Valley Community Foundation is providing the Getting the Inactive Active grants programme, in partnership with Sport England and the National Lottery. The programme seeks to distribute grants to support community groups that want to engage inactive people in sport and physical activity.

To be eligible for funding, groups must meet the following criteria:

  • The group is primarily a community group that does not regularly deliver sport or physical activity projects;
  • The proposed project is a new activity for the group; and
  • The proposed project aims to get currently inactive people into active physical activity and sporting habits.

The funding can be used for both capital and revenue projects, although priority will be given to revenue projects. The funding can be used for a variety of purposes including activity start-up costs, coaching, volunteer development, training, facility hire and marketing.

In total, £226k is available to give out in grants to groups. Individual groups can apply for a funding amount of between £1,000-£10,000 for their project. However, groups applying for funding above £5,000 will be asked to show strong evidence of the need for their project and how their project will attract a greater number of participants.

There will be a short information session to hear about the ‘Getting the Inactive Active’ Fund provided by Tees Valley Community Foundation in partnership with Sport England and the National Lottery.

The fund aims to support local community groups to target inactive people in their area, – encouraging them to introduce sport and physical activity into their lives.

The session will be held from 2-3pm on Thursday 16th August 2018 at Tees Valley Community Foundation, Tees Valley Community Foundation, Wallace House, Falcon Court, Preston Farm, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 3TX.
