Bids for the Holiday Enrichment 2020 Programme are now open to applications.
Although this year’s Department for Education Holiday Activities Bid was unsuccessful, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (SBC) have identified a local need for holiday provision and agreed to fund the Holiday Enrichment Programme 2020. Catalyst will be working with SBC to coordinate this programme throughout the Summer & October half term periods (20th July – 31st August/ 26th – 30th October 2020).
Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations and schools are invited to apply for funding to deliver enrichment activities and healthy food over the Summer and October Half Term holidays for children, young people and families in Stockton-on-Tees. This is in response to the growing body of evidence of a holiday experience gap – with children from disadvantaged families less likely to access organised out-of-school activities; more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health, and more likely to experience social isolation and learning loss.
Catalyst and Public Health are fully aware that COVID-19 concerns and government guidance are placing a strain on providers. There will be a section in the grant application form allocated to COVID-19, where we have asked for bids to outline how providers could deliver holiday enrichment activities in an alternative way during any period of social distancing, should this be required. Examples of this could be gardening packs, baking kits, craft activity kits etc, and what cost this would incur. Please note due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, this programme at all times will be subject to amendment in line with the relevant Public Health advice.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and Catalyst are very aware that given the current circumstances it is proving difficult for organisations to pull together a bid for this year’s Holiday Enrichment Programme under the time constraints. Therefore, we have made the decision to extend the deadline to midday,Wednesday 13th May.
We are very conscious that the situation is continually under review both here and at national level, and the social distancing requirements may change over the next few months. The most important thing at this stage is for you to provide your plans on how you could provide services for the Holiday Enrichment Programme under the two scenarios proposed in the application.
