The Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Public Health team are currently reviewing the health needs and priorities of our local population in relation to living with a healthy weight.

They have commissioned a piece of Insight Research to further our understanding of the enablers and barriers around maintaining a healthy weight for residents with disabilities.  Evidence suggests that there are significant inequalities with regards excess weight between those with / without disabilities, and given the links between weight and a number of health conditions, they feel it is important to hear from local disabled people about their experiences and perspectives.

They would be really grateful if you could consider whether this research is something you could contribute to, or if you could share the attached information about the study with colleagues / service users / patients / others you know who may be interested in being involved.  They are keen that the views of those with both physical and learning disabilities are heard, along with the views of parents, carers, and others who support disabled people in Stockton-on-Tees.

If you are interested in being involved, or want to find out more, please contact Christopher Hartworth, email address: barefoot@barefootresearch.org.uk .
