Catalyst Awards 2017 – Award Categories

Community Group Award Awarded to a Community Group or User Led Organisation who, through the use of volunteers or community involvement, has made a positive impact on their local area or community of interest.

For Example:

·         A community group who are active and dedicated to their community of interest

·         A user led organisation who have made significant differences to their service users

Innovation, Partnership & Enterprise Award Awarded to an organisation, social business or venture that has innovated new ways of working to deliver services to people and/or has developed alternative approaches to their sustainability through partnerships and/or enterprise.

For Example:

·         An organisation who have made significant and innovative operational change to develop a new model of working.

·         A local business who have taken significant steps in supporting and partnering with the VCSE sector to improve the lives of those living in the Borough of Stockton on Tees.

·         A new enterprise by an existing organisation that has changed the way services are provided in their area.

Health Impact Award Awarded to an organisation or project that has demonstrated an important impact on the health of people in the community it serves.

For Example:

·         A community group or organisation who’s dedication to health improvements has had a significant impact on their community of interest.

·         A fitness or exercise group who have overcome significant difficulties to improve the health and wellbeing of those in their membership.

·         A sporting group who have extended their services to include a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and have made a difference to the lives and longevity of those in their membership.

·         A group or organisation who have taken extensive steps to disseminate information and facilitate change for the better in the health and wellbeing of a wide section of society.

Community Spaces Award Awarded to a group or organisation that has developed or improved a community space that is open to the general public and for the community benefit. This can include community buildings, parks and activity spaces, museums or any area open to the public.

For Example:

·         An organising committee, or responsible volunteer for the organisation of a public festival or event.

·         A friends of group or responsible organisation for improvements to public resources such as play areas or public parks.

·         A volunteer or organisation responsible for the continued upkeep and improvements of a museum or public display.

·         A community building or space open to the general public displaying excellence and dedication to community cohesion.

Voice & Influence Award Awarded to a group or individual who have dedicated their time and resources to campaigning for change or the rights of others, or have represented their community over time.

For Example:

·         An individual or organisation who have campaigned for a change in the law or in public policy in the local area.

·         An individual or organisation who have advocated on behalf of, or supported those whose voices are seldom heard.

·         An individual or organisation who are acknowledged as an industry leader in their field due to their tireless efforts to improve the lives of their community of interest.

·         An individual or organisation who have brought issues and challenges to national or regional attention when no

Community Arts Award Awarded to an individual or organisation who has dedicated themselves over time to the Arts in Stockton-on-Tees for the benefit of others.

For Example:

·         A community group or organisation who has developed projects of artistic merit in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees

·         A theatre group, organisation or project that has encouraged community involvement in the theatre or that has had significant community benefit.

·         A performing arts group or organisation who have encouraged community involvement in the performing arts, including dance, or a project that has had significant community benefit.

Community Sports Award Awarded to an individual or organisation who has dedicated themselves over time to Sport in Stockton-on-Tees for the benefit of others.

For Example:

·         A community group or organisation who has developed projects to encourage participation in sport or improvements in existing provisions within the Stockton Borough.

·         A volunteer or group who have improved the health and wellbeing of people in the borough through sports innovation.

·         A sporting venue who has made significant steps to encourage community participation in sport.

Trustee of the Year Award Awarded to a trustee who has demonstrated over time a commitment and positive impact on their organisation through their actions.

For Example:

·         A trustee who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to improving the lives of those living in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees.

·         A trustee who has aided their organisation in strengthening their activities and standing in the Borough.

·         A trustee whose quiet dedication and commitment has been noted to be the backbone of an organisation.

Young Volunteer of the Year Awarded to an individual aged under 25 years who has made a difference in Stockton through their volunteering.
