The project will provide local community based interventions led by fully trained female instructors from a BME background and aims to improve the health and well-being of women with young children particularly from BME community, increase participation in physical activity and empower local families to improve self-efficacy towards physical activity, improving eating habits and seeking support from other sources.

HEAL: Health, Exercise and Allotments

Project Information

Heal will work with the target groups: obese adults and adults with mental health problems, additionally providing activities and advice to support their families and children, in a community environment and will focus on adopting the benefits of a healthy diet and physical activity at 3 allotment/community garden sites, targeting communities of need in the wards of Billingham South, Village and Stockton Town Centre.

Partnership project led by Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind with 3scoreyears&10 and Stockton CAB. referrals of 2% at highest risk of hospital admission or readmission due to lack of support or confidence at home. A 6-10 wee programme of reablement, confidence building and welfare optimisation gives each person the building blocks for their lives.
