Co-op has launched a gift card scheme to help volunteers pick up food and other essential supplies for vulnerable customers who have been instructed by the Government to ‘shield’ at home.
Those who are shielding or self-isolating and are reliant on others to do their shopping for them can call a dedicated Co-op phoneline which will have been shared with them by their Local Authority to purchase a gift card. The card can then be shared with friends, neighbours and volunteers to use on their behalf to purchase their shopping in Co-op stores. We’ve created some simple FAQs if you get asked about it from your local community:
- What is the number?
0800 029 4592. Please be aware this service is very new, so only share the number directly with people in your community who are vulnerable rather than sharing wider, i.e. across social media - Who can call this number?
