Teesside’s Premier Local Theatre Group Celebrates 100 years!
Stockton Stage Society is the longest-running amateur dramatic society in the Stockton and Teesside area. This year it is pleased to celebrate its longevity in its Centenary year with a fabulous production of “My Fair Lady” at The Forum Theatre, Billingham this March.
Throughout the years they have overcome many challenges and learned to work with at times limited resources. Utilising local talent the society has produced shows ranging from “Brigadoon” in the early years with a basic set and a huge cast, developing over time to be able to offer the 2019 production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” with a spectacular set, colourful costumes and a flying car! Following this tradition “My Fair Lady” promises to be a fabulous night of entertainment for all ages.
The current company has 60 members with some celebrating 25+ years with the society. Director Roy Thompson, Choreographer Geraldine Dorè and Secretary Bryan Cutter are among the longest serving members, alongside the Chairman Rita Stafford and President Marian Chandler who have both achieved 60 years service. All are thrilled to be part of this centenary year celebrations, which includes the forthcoming production in March and a celebratory dinner/dance in April.
Over the years Stockton Stage has performed their annual shows at The Hippodrome Theatre and Arc in Stockton on Tees, with Forum Theatre Billingham being the home of Stockton Stage since the early 1970’s. With the support of its dedicated followers from far and wide who return each year to fill the seats and enjoy the society’s show the group has gone from strength to strength.
Please support this huge achievement by coming along and enjoying the show or by joining them at the celebratory dinner/dance.
