On Tuesday, this week our Care Home Navigator spent the morning with care home managers and providers at a celebration event hosted by SBC’s Transformation Team.

The event was opened by Cllr Ann McCoy who praised the homes for the hard work and achievements.

Achievements recognised included:

  • The White House receiving an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. The management team talked about how they had managed to attain the rating and how they are going to maintain it.
  • Wellburn House Manager Louise talked about her ‘Manager of The Year’ award and the work her team have put in to improve the home.
  • Julie Walker from Hillcare talked about the success of ‘The Hen Project’ and we were treated to a short visit from one of the residents of Mandale House who described how she loves getting involved with looking after the chickens.
  • Park House receiving an ‘Excellent’ rating in their PAMMS report. The management team described how they worked with staff to achieve the rating.

The attendees had the opportunity to take part in a mini-workshop ran by Funky Feet, which promotes inter-generational activities. The Funky Feet programme runs in schools and care homes across the borough and brings children and the elderly together through exercise and interactive play.

The event was well attended and our Care Home Navigator had lots of opportunities to network and promote the service.
