Catalyst have been asked to help Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to bring together local organisations and enterprises to explore forming a Climate Coalition here in the Borough. As an organisation Catalyst has already seen the significant benefits of addressing economic concerns and working in partnership with the Council, now we have a chance to extend the focus to Climate Change action.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has a strong history of developing and implementing interventions to support local communities and benefit residents. But they and can and want to do more. In March 2022 the Cabinet agreed a 10-year strategy that will work to not only achieve net zero carbon for the authority but also to work with residents, businesses, and services to aim towards carbon neutrality for the Borough by 2050. You can find details of their strategy here.

There is strength in a partnership which agrees to come together, to agree priorities and to make a pledge for the future. We may not be able to solve every issue but by collaborating, raising awareness, and delivering individual actions we can start to make a difference.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council would like to extend an invitation to join them in an initial meeting led by Catalyst on Tuesday 28th February 2023. Doors open at 6pm with the event formally starting 6:30pm. Please email comms@catalyststockton.org  if would like to attend so we can send you the full information.

  • 6:30pm Welcome from Jon Carling – Catalyst CEO
  • 6:35pm ‘Environmental Sustainability and Carbon Reduction Strategy 2022’ presentation by Neil Mitchell, Head of Environment, Leisure & Green Infrastructure at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council
  • 6:55pm 4 organisations/individuals give a 5-minute talk about current action across the Borough
  • 7:15pm Attendee tables will then be joined by a member of the Catalyst or Stockton Council teams to engage in a Q&A to get your voice for action.
  • 8:15pm Event Close

This will be an opportunity to meet with other like-minded people to discuss the challenges faced by our communities, and the actions we can take to tackle climate change. There is strength in numbers and together we can make a difference in our communities.

There are no preconceived ideas or any unreasonable expectations. This is an important turning point for our Borough, residents, businesses and indeed our planet. It’s very clear to Neil, his team and the Council that we all need to be part of a solution. We can no longer sit back and decide that it is someone else’s problem. The effects of climate change are devastating and quite frankly horrifying, and we hope you will join us in this initial meeting.

Please email comms@catalyststockton.org if you would like to attend.
