We need a Trustee with a finance background!

Catalyst is the voice of the voluntary sector in Stockton. We engage every day with as many voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations as we can, always wanting to know about their achievements and the issues they face. We draw on that information when we represent the sector in discussions, Board meetings and informal contact with decision-makers in the public sector. Catalyst also provides a range of support to charities and community groups in Stockton, helping them to identify funding, questions about governance and a range of other things.

We have a Board of experienced Trustees with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, who advise the Catalyst team and hold us to account. Right now, we’re particularly interested in someone with a finance/accountancy qualification, perhaps a qualified Chartered Accountant, joining the Board.

The role would include:

  • Holding Catalyst to account for sound financial management
  • Overseeing the production of our annual accounts each year
  • Monitoring spend against profile, for the whole organisation and for individual projects
  • Reporting financial issues to the Board

Catalyst has a qualified Accounting Technician who manages our finances, reporting to the Chief Executive and preparing reports for the Board. The role of a Trustee will be to support and offer advice. There are eight board meetings a year, and four meetings of the Audit and Risk Committee, which monitors the finances.

Trustees enable a voluntary sector organisation to have access to a real breadth of experience. In return, they gain tremendous insight into the voluntary sector, and skills and fulfilling experiences that can help them in other areas of their working life.

Please contact Catalyst Chief Executive Jon Carling, if you would like to know more about this opportunity.
