Rachel Gault is the Community Development Manager for Community Ventures, a charity based in Middlesbrough. Here is what she has to say to anyone thinking about undertaking the Level 5 Leadership in the VCSE course ran by Catalyst and One Awards.
‘This role was my first manager’s role within the VCSE, so when I saw the Level 5 Leadership within the VCSE advertised with Catalyst, I was keen to find out more.
After meeting and discussing the course content with Karen Grundy, the course director, I decided to join the 1st cohort in September 2019.
The course provided me with the framework needed to lead and manage a registered charity lawfully while remaining true to myself and my leadership and management style. Each of the units studied provided me with new learning techniques that I will continue to use in my daily job.
After completing the Level 5 qualification, I have used my new learning and skills to present a business pitch to a potential funder that has been successful and will fund a new project over the next 12 months.
I would highly recommend this course as it has given me the confidence I need to progress in my career and a clearer understanding of the VCSE, which has resulted in new and exciting opportunities, including starting a Chartered Management Degree in September 2020.’
