Each year, the Centre for Social Justice Foundation sets out to identify the most transformational grassroots charities from across the UK and connect them with like-minded people to solve the root causes of social breakdown.

From lifting families out of debt and worklessness, to tackling homelessness, to helping people overcome addiction, these charities change lives every single day without fanfare and on shoestring budgets.

Often referred to as ‘The Oscars of the small charity world”. Since 2005, the CSJ Awards have honoured the very best grassroots charities from across the UK. This year, Stockton-on-Tees-based charity Three13 has been shortlisted for an award.

Three13 exists to help people facing barriers to employment reconnect and move forward through vocational training and community action, creating an alternative provision for adults, shaped by those rebuilding their lives.

The CSJ Foundation has a network of over 1000 grassroots charities that they support, and they have whittled that number down to 12 well-deserving organisations. The job of selecting a winner now falls to an independent panel of judges, who have a wide range of expertise across a range of sectors.

At Catalyst, we wanted to pass on our congratulations on being shortlisted and good luck to Three13; we know this organisation very well, as they have hosted numerous of our annual Conference and Awards, and we have seen first hand just how prepared they are to give their time and effort to support us, let alone their service users. Dave, Martin, Helen and the rest of the staff are always so kind and welcoming, and we hope the award comes home to Stockton!
