On Saturday 24th November Co-op celebrated the £19m members had raised for over 4,000 local causes across the country through the latest round of their Local Community Fund. During the past year the Co-op Round 3 local causes in Stockton-On-Tees were Daisy Chain, Norton and Stockton Ancients Jnrs and SNAPS Tees Valley.

Round 3 finished at the end of October, with a total of £29,050 paid to the 3 charities:

  • Daisy Chain – £10,823 (to go towards equipment for young people with Autism)
  • Norton and Stockton Ancients Jnrs – £9,220 (to go towards defibrillators for sports complex)
  • SNAPS Tees Valley – £9,007 (to go towards holiday activities for families)

Co-op Norton Store Manager, Steve Mc Gowan said, “I have really enjoyed working with these 3 charities over the past year, great relationships have been built and developed.  On Saturday the local Co-op food and funeral care staff were proud to show the real difference that our Co-op is making to many people in the communities where we serve.  Many thanks to our local members who have been very supportive; together we are creating stronger communities.”

Well done to all concerned and I look forward to working with the Round 4 Causes over the next year believing that we will raise even more money to help support Friends of Ropner Park, Bloodrun EVS and 1st Norton-On-Tees Scout Group.”
