Launch of the 2020 Nick Darke Writers’ Award – The Nick Darke Award 2020 is now open for submissions from UK and European scriptwriters with a prize of £6,000.

The Nick Darke Writers’ Award commemorates the playwright Nick Darke and was conceived, with the support of his family, by his wife – the artist and filmmaker Jane Darke – following his death. Nick Darke wrote in various forms but earned his living in the world of theatre, screen and radio.

The Award recognises Nick Darke’s impact across the arts and endeavours to continue his legacy through the promotion of talent. The 2020 category is stage play.

Applicants should submit a full stage play script, along with a one-page synopsis. Scripts must be a minimum of 45 minutes in length, and no maximum length.

The winning entrant will receive £6,000. The award provides the time to write, which financial support facilitates.

The competition is open to all national and international writers aged 16 and over. The writer must be the sole original author.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Monday 4 May 2020.
