Age UK North Tyneside and Age UK Teesside have been working together for over 5 years to support older offenders and to improve the range of services and support available to them. They now have an exciting opportunity to further develop the support we provide to older offenders in prisons across the North.

Salary: Band 19-25, £17,628 – £21,904 pro rata
Hours: 4 days/29 hours per week
Fixed Term till 31 March 2023

This 4 days/29 hours per week role will involve supporting the co-ordination and development of Age UK Teesside’s and Age UK North Tyneside’s work with older prisoners within HMP Holme House, Stockton and HMP Frankland, Durham; by providing up to 2 days per week activity in each prison including preparation and liaison work within the prison and will be based at the Age UK Teesside offices in Middleborough.

The successful candidate will develop a range of sources of information, activities and support to older people within the two prisons and develop a good knowledge of, and links with, local communities and other services that may be able to offer support to older prisoners on release.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of developing and delivering groups and activities
  • Experience of working with volunteers and student placements
  • Experience of developing new initiatives/projects
  • A demonstrable understanding of the offender and prison sector
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders across the public, private and third sector
  • Community development experience and working with targeted community groups

This role is advertised as a 4 days/29 hours per week post working across 2 prisons, so the ideal candidate will need to be flexible. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate their experience of the above requirements.
