Description:

Natural disasters cannot be prevented, but their impact on people’s lives can be reduced to a considerable extent. In the event of an emergency, the local community should be actively engaged throughout the process of disaster management. In a highly interactive and experiential training environment, this course will provide delegates with the knowledge and confidence they need to actively engage with and work with their local community before, during and after an emergency. Participants will learn how to proactively and positively interact with the local community, in a way that mobilises local resources, community spirit and minimises psychological and social damage. Finally, participants will learn how to support and empower a community recovering from an emergency.
