“Providing at least £1m to each of 150 communities in England, Big Local is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and managed by Local Trust. In contrast to conventional top down, time-limited, project-led funding, the funding awarded to each Big Local area was provided on the basis that it can be spent over 10-15 years at the communities’ own chosen pace, and on their own plans and priorities” – The local Trust
More About Roseworth Big Local
“Our vision is to have a rosier future in which we have a community and a place that we are proud of.”
- Communities will be better able to identify local needs and act in response to them.
- People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
- The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
- People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.
Our forum has 8 volunteer members and is currently made up of local people (who live, work, study or volunteer in the Roseworth Ward) and ward councillors. We are guided by our local people; this can include community groups and places of worship, local businesses, local residents’ committees and partnership boards and local schools.
We regularly consult with our local community and funding is spent in line with the Roseworth Big Local Plan, which is built around the needs and voices of local people.
Catalyst’s role is to support the residents and members of the Roseworth Big Local in administering the funding as directed by the Roseworth Big Local Partnership Forum. They also provide management for our community development worker.
- Joint funded the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) now open to the public on Roseworth

- Consulted with and lobbied with residents to Arriva; to make route changes to the vital no.15 bus service in Roseworth
- Invested in our local green spaces and infrastructure; supporting local people to be more involved in green space projects, tree and wildflower planting.
