Roseworth Big Local: Community Development Worker
Roseworth Big Local is a community-led initiative operating in the Roseworth area of Stockton-on-Tees. The initiative receives over £1m of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, over a ten year period ending in 2024. Roseworth Big Local is run by a Board of local residents and supported by a Community Development Worker (job share) and a Communications Officer. We are now looking for skilled individuals to fill both posts.
In contrast to conventional top down, time-limited, project-led funding, the funding awarded to the Roseworth Big Local Board has been provided on the basis that it can be spent at the community’s own chosen pace, and on their own plans and priorities.
The Roseworth Board have produced this vision for their area:
“Our vision is to have a rosier future in which we have a community and a place that we are proud of.”
and they have also developed the following aims:
- Communities will be better able to identify local needs and act in response to them.
- People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
- The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
- People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.
