Strategic Programmes Manager
Karen Grundy joined Catalyst Stockton-on-Tees in April 2019. In her diverse role, Karen is at the forefront in providing opportunities for groups and individuals from the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) across the Borough. Karen is responsible for The Community Groups Programme which aims to provide opportunities for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in the Stockton Borough to come together and discuss any ideas and influence the way local services are delivered. Karen also coordinates the Training and Developement Programme, which provides a wide range of learning and training opportunities to the VCSE sector.
An entrepreneurial and dynamic leader, Karen has displayed a real passion for the VCSE sector, championing and supporting organisations to achieve their maximum potential. She has significant experience as a leader and facilitator, working at both strategic and grassroots levels. Karen has achieved a breadth of experience and specialist expertise in the VCSE. This expertise draws on over 30 years of management and leadership in the following key strategic areas:
- Business and financial planning
- Risk management
- Business continuity planning
- Organisational and strategic development
- Change management.
In addition, Karen is a former volunteer and also worked with volunteers. This combined experience has given her extensive skills in developing, managing, empowering and training staff and volunteers. A creative thinker and a strong communicator, Karen can motivate people to provide innovative solutions to a range of complex issues. Karen has been recognised as an individual who can build successful partnerships across sectors locally and regionally, putting the achievements of the VCSE at centre stage.
