The Gift returns in 2018 and you can help make this festive season a little brighter for those in our borough who are vulnerable and alone this Christmas.
How can you help…
Stockton Borough Council are again asking for donations of new toiletry sets, socks, slippers, gloves, scarves, chocolate, biscuits, and toothbrushes – you’ll find a full list of items to you can donate on the website – and we’ll be distributing these, in-time for Christmas, around three fantastic groups in our Borough:
- Care Leavers – offering gifts and essentials to those leaving the care system,
- The Moses Project – providing daily support, mentoring and activities for men disengaged from society,
- The Mary Thompson Fund – hardship fund responding to critical and emergency needs of those seeking sanctuary and asylum in Stockton-on-Tees.
Donation are invited until the event by visiting the Rediscover Stockton Shop (134b High Street) or you can donate at The Gift event itself on Saturday 15 December. There’ll also be some drop-off points around the Borough where you can donate their gifts ahead of the event.
Volunteers – we’re also looking for people to join us at the event on Saturday 15 December to help us wrap items into hampers, write Christmas cards, design paper decorations and more!
We’d love it if you could spare some time to come along and help, and why not bring family, friends and colleagues along too! You don’t need to come all day, you can just donate a small amount of time to help. If you’re coming in a group of 5 or more, it would be great if you could contact us on 01642 527389 or email events@stockton.gov.uk and we’ll make sure there’s plenty of spaces for you all!
