The next deadline for applications is 15 December 2023.

Can you imagine a world without trees? Neither can The International Tree Foundation. Their UK Community Tree Planting Grants are now open for applications.

Every year ITF supports UK community groups to achieve their tree-planting ambitions. Each summer we issue a ‘call for proposals’ and invite people to send us their ideas. We’d love to hear from you too! This could be something small, such as community woodland, or orchard. Or it could be something larger scale such as landscape restoration or rewilding.

ITF provide financial support for community tree planting projects, equivalent to £1.75 per tree. In addition, we provide expert consultation and advice for projects that need it. This may include help with project design, species selection, ground preparation, and so on. We are keen tree-loving people here so always happy to chat over the phone.

This funding is about people and communities as much as it is trees, and we want these trees to be owned by the local communities that plant them. In this light, all our UK projects take place on public or publicly-accessible land. This can be common land and public parks, but can also be private land that is being used for a social purpose, or private land with permissive access/rights of way. This means that the communities who plant these trees will be able to go back and watch as these trees grow and change with the seasons. We want this process of planting a tree and witnessing its growth over the years to be one that everyone has the chance to experience
