MATRIX Neurological is an innovative lived experience-led charity that supports children and young people who are living with the effects of an acquired brain injury or head injury; and provides practical and emotional support to their families.
They deliver a range of services under three workstreams: Case Management, Children and Young People Support and Family Support. They employ two staff and have several volunteers.
The Board is looking to recruit 2-3 additional Trustees to assist with the management and governance of the charity. The Board comprises both parents and professionals.
Parents
Parent Trustees have an important role to play, as it is imperative that real life lived experiences and views are represented. We would therefore like to hear from any parents of brain injured children who may be interested in becoming a Parent Trustee. This is a great way to make increase your skills, make friends and use your own experiences to help improve the lives of others.
People from Professional backgrounds
We are also interested in potential volunteers from professional backgrounds; in particular from those qualified in any of the following professions:
- Accountancy
- Human Resource Management
- Research
- Third Sector Governance
It is not essential that you have any lived experience of childhood and adolescent acquired brain injury; but it would be an advantage.
ROLE PURPOSE FOR ALL TRUSTEES:
- To ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for public benefit
- Comply with the charity’s governing document and the law
- Act in the charity’s best interests
- Ensure the charity is accountable
- Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
- Act with reasonable care and skill
These are all volunteer roles, but travel expenses can be paid.
If you can spare a few hours a month and are interested in becoming a Trustee for Matrix Neurological, please contact Jan Rock on: 01642 989116 or email jan@matrixneurological.org.uk for an application pack.
