Roseworth Big Local is a community-led initiative operating in the Roseworth area of Stockton-on-Tees.
The initiative receives over £1m of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, over a ten year period ending in 2024. Roseworth Big Local is run by a Board of local residents and supported by a Community Development Worker (job share) and a Communications Officer. We are now looking for skilled individuals to fill both posts.
In contrast to conventional top down, time-limited, project-led funding, the funding awarded to the Roseworth Big Local Board has been provided on the basis that it can be spent at the community’s own chosen pace, and on their own plans and priorities.
The Roseworth Board have produced this vision for their area:
“Our vision is to have a rosier future in which we have a community and a place that we are proud of.”
And they have also developed the following aims:
Communities will be better able to identify local needs and act in response to them.
People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.
The Community Development Worker will work 15 hours per week, job-share with an existing member of staff. The person will support the Big Local Board in building its capacity and learning; the delivery of the Roseworth Big Local Delivery Plan (RBL) and manage external commissioned contracts. The role will entail working in Roseworth, with local residents from the estate to build on existing capacity to increase community involvement in the Big Local Board. The person will be able to work from the Catalyst Office, from home, and from a new community facility at Kiora Hall on Roseworth.
The Communications Officer will work for five hours per week. They will be responsible for leading the editorial, strategic, creative and operational communications for Roseworth Big Local. They will play a key role in ensuring our communications are both influential and informative for the full range of our stakeholders. The role will entail working in Roseworth, with local residents from the estate to build on existing capacity to increase community involvement in the Big Local Board. The person will be able to work from the Catalyst Office, from home, and from a new community facility at Kiora Hall on Roseworth.
Catalyst is the Locally Trusted Organisation for Roseworth Big Local. As such, it is the accountable body, holding the Roseworth budget, employing the staff, and ensuring that Roseworth Big Local acts in a legal and socially responsible manner.
Applications will be welcome for each individual post, and from people who may be interested in undertaking both roles.
