The Community Mental Health Transformation Programme is a substantial investment in improving community mental health services, especially for those most affected by mental ill health (over £975m per year by 23/34).
The programme was announced by NHS England in the summer of 2020. The first of three years’ funding became available in April 2021 and we are just about at the half-way point of the national funding programme.
The importance of co-producing the necessary transformation with the voluntary and community sector and with service users and carers has been emphasised from the outset. There was also an expectation that a significant portion of the funding would be invested in VCSE provision. Anecdotal evidence suggests that co-production, and service development are happening in very different ways across the NENC ICS. This survey has been designed to try and get a sense of how the sector is involved locally, so that the challenges and opportunities can be better understood. Any emerging themes will be explored in more depth by follow up focus groups.
