Family Action is a charity committed to building stronger families by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families. We seek to empower people and communities to address their issues and challenges through practical, financial and emotional help.

Stockton Family Outreach and Volunteering Service is part of the 0-19 service in partnership with Stockton Borough Council and Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust. We work with children, young people and their families, who are not currently open to Social Care services or Early Help; in the hope of preventing this involvement in the future. We work in partnership with these agencies to complete targeted and timely interventions with a child or young person and their family.

Volunteers provide support by delivering accessible, hub-based sessions, community-based family support; or by working in the background to support professionals.

Family Action is seeking to recruit a Volunteer Support Worker to deliver an ambitious volunteer strategy across the Stockton 0-19 service, both within the Family Hubs and the wider community, by recruiting, training and supervising a caseload of volunteers.

Salary: £17,381 – £19,278 per annum pro rata
Hours: 29.6 hours per week / 52 weeks
Permanent Contract

The successful applicant will work closely with the Community Participation Worker to embed volunteering across the service and to provide volunteering support for Community Engagement and Service User Participation events. During school holidays, they will lead a team of volunteers in the delivery of our Families, Food and Fun programme which aims to limit the impact of holiday hunger and food poverty as well as supporting families to play and learn together.

Experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers is desirable but not essential. You will need to demonstrate experience of building and maintaining professional relationships with children,
young people, community groups and other agencies; and working with communities in an empowering and supportive way. The post will involve working with volunteers, families and professionals across Stockton-On-Tees. You must have access to a vehicle for business purposes and be able to travel frequently, with the expectation you will work collaboratively with Family
Action & key delivery partners across the North Region of the country.

Our Values: People focus, Mutual Respect, Excellence-in-all-we do and a Can-Do attitude.

If you can relate to these and have the necessary skills and attitude we can offer you:

  • The opportunity to become part of Family Action initiatives
