We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, to develop a new volunteer scheme to support and empower adults with specific learning disabilities who are in contact with or receive Adult Social Care support.
Volunteers will be matched with service users, and their role will be to encourage and enable those individuals to engage in social activities within their community and explore personal hobbies and interests, in order to increase confidence, combat isolation and improve mental wellbeing.
Throughout the project, we will spend time with the service user and find out what they want from the service, their likes and dislikes, what activities they want to take part in & where they want to go, and match them up with one of our friendly volunteers who are DBS and checked and fully trained.
Our Volunteer Coordinator who will provide support for both the volunteer and the service user during every part of the journey, to ensure both feel comfortable and happy.
