Maximising the role of the VCSE sector in holistic cancer care

Catalyst has received funding from the Northern Cancer Alliance till March 2019 to link up clinical teams and VCSE services to improve the quality of life for those ‘Living With & Beyond Cancer’ (LWBC) across Tees Valley & Darlington.

The aim is to ensure patients receive consistent support and advice for any concerns they might have relating to finance/welfare, mental health, physical wellbeing, housing, loneliness and practical issues – which may be delivered through 1-1 or group support/activities, assisted signposting/referrals, events and peer support groups.

We are engaging organisations and community groups in the area to develop a ‘VCSE Cancer Links’ network which will be upskilled in Cancer Awareness, take part in Health & Wellbeing events, attend joint briefing/networking sessions and promote their services to NHS Cancer Teams. Please note: This opportunity isn’t just for groups/services already working with Cancer patients.
