Youth United Stockton (YUS) has secured funding to provide free of charge training to voluntary and community sector organisations delivering services to young people (aged 8 – 19 years) within Stockton-on-Tees.
Places on their courses are limited to:

COACHING & MENTORING
Help young people set and achieve their goals through effective coaching and mentoring practices. Learn how to respond when a young person sets a goal deemed by other’s as being unrealistic.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID (ACCREDITED)
A 2 day in-depth course which will see participants accredited by Mental Health England as Mental Health First Aiders. This course looks in more detail at individual disorders, risk factors, signposting, child adolescent development, bullying and cyber bullying, substance misuse and protective factors. The sessions will be a mix of presentation, group discussions and group work activities. Minimum age of participant is 16.
Please note this course will be subject to a cancellation fee of £50 for any participant that fails to attend or cancels their place within 48 hours of the course start date.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID (LITE)
A 3 hour course will explore the most common mental health conditions experienced by young people and discover what youth workers can do to prevent and or intervene when needed. Minimum age of participants is 16.

RECRUITING AND MANAGING SESSIONAL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS
Recruitment can be costly in many ways. This session looks at interview techniques and making sure we have the right person for the job. Once appointed, how do we effectively supervise and respond to staff / volunteer’s behaviour and challenges? The course will look at many of the challenges we face as managers and supervisors.
